MySQL DBA

Location: Portland, OR

We are looking for a MySQL Database Administrator to keep our backend systems running smoothly. The successful candidate has experience managing and improving high transaction volume database systems. Excellent communication skills are a must.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitor production databases                                                                   
  • Perform tuning of production databases                                                         
  • Perform backup and recovery of databases                                                       
  • Ensure data integrity of the Discogs Database                                                  
  • Optimize tables and indexes of existing databases                                              
  • Apply schema updates to various production databases                                           
  • Review SQL statements before deployment in production                                          
  • Troubleshoot database related application performance issues  
  • Participate in on-call schedule and occasional after hours support role                               

Desirable Skills                                                                                 

  • Experience managing MySQL databases in production environments                                 
  • Experience with MySQL replication, master-master configuration, storage engines, MHA, MMM      
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting and Python
  • Working knowledge of UNIX or Linux systems
  • Working knowledge of LVM backups
  • Any experience managing Solr, Redis, or MongoDB is also a plus.

  • Able to commit and follow through on projects and tasks                                        
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working with others in a small dynamic environment             

This position is full time, salaried and includes benefits. Based in Portland, Oregon. Relocation assistance available.
